Introduced by Yamaha in 2001 to replace the venerable FJ1200, the FJR provides new levels of touring comfort and endurance together with sporting speed and handling.

The new 1298cc, fuel injected engine with 72 kNm torque (at 6500 rpm) and 126 bhp (at 7800 rpm) on the road, provides enough to power your way up mountain passes — 2-up with luggage. Yet you can tour and easily achieve 50 mpg (17 km/litre) and the 25litre tank gives a 200+ mile range.

The new aluminium frame provides rigidity and light weight (255kg all up) with excellent handling on radial tyres (17 x 5.50 rear) and brakes from the R1 give superb stopping ability.

Come and try one: call in or ring to arrange a local trip.

It is run by Mark (Ernie) Lodge and Phil (Doc) Hacker
